Events Update 16th March 2020

Message from Events Sub-Committee to all Members: Over the last six months, your BDAQ Events sub-committee and head office team have been working very hard to plan for a successful 2020 event season. However, our top priority remains the health and well-being of you, your staff and our attendees at events. Along with the rest of the world, we have been watching the COVID-19 situation evolve. Each day brings new developments and new advice and it is impossible to know what will happen in Australia in the coming weeks and months. At this point we have no plans to cancel or postpone any BDAQ events. If there are any changes to this advice we will inform you straight away. As Building Designers we are not part of the nation’s ‘critical workforce’ so we have not been directed by the Australian Government to limit our meetings or conferences of less than 500 people. However, there are sensible things we can all do to keep each other safe and healthy: • If you are feeling unwell, don’t attend an event. • If you have arrived from overseas you are required to self-isolate for 14 days, please follow this directive. • Use a hand sanitiser and wash your hands often. This will not eliminate the risk but could reduce the chance of contracting and spreading the virus. • Eliminate physical contact with others in all social settings. Please keep yourself informed by following your local public health officials and local authorities and, the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Australian Government Department of Health and Queensland Health. We appreciate the understanding of all members, partners and attendees. This is a developing situation and we will continue to work off official advice and government feedback and update you should there be any changes to our scheduled events.
