“Good documentation is one dollar spent to give 1000’s of dollars saved.”

The documentation stage begins once the design process has been completed. This stage of work is commonly termed within the industry as the ‘working drawing and specification stage’.

The building industry has recognised that poor documentation is the cause of billions of dollars being wasted on construction sites annually.  BDAQ is committed to promoting good documentation to its members and to give recognition to its members who produce first class documentation.

The judging process is extremely thorough and is judged by experienced Building Surveyors, Builders, and Quantity Surveyors.

There are 2 categories:

  • Category A.. Residential including Multi-Residential (class 1 and class 2 up to 2 storeys) and also includes
    class 10 structures.
  • Category B … Multi-Residential Class 2 (3 storeys and above) and Class 3 to 9 (Commercial, Industrial and Aged Care)

The judging is based on the following tenants:

  • What level of confidence would the Builder have in the use of these drawings and specification to ensure the successful construction of the project.
  • Will adherence to the drawings and specification by all trades ensure efficient, trouble free construction of the project.

Points are allocated to the following:
